Lomé Container Terminal – LCT the largest ever private Investment in Togo
An IFC (International Finance Cooperation from the world bank group) casestudy shows that the new transshipment Container hub is the largest ever private investment undertaken in Togo. A complete new and modern Container terminal has been developed and is operated by a consortium of TIL and CMHI – each being 50% shareholder. The IFC has provided a loan of 116.21 Million USD for the development.
The new transshipment hub for MSC will ease up many transportation problems of the region. The terminal can receive larger vessels than any other terminal in the area and is equipped to ensure a fast and efficient transfer of the cargo from ocean services to local feeder and vice versa.
The concept of LCT will also boost the local community economy among others by creating about 700 direct and up to 2500 local indirect jobs in the operation phase, says IFC. This will be an important factor for the further local development.
RBS and akquinet dcc have supplied state-of-the-art IT solutions to LCT by implementing the most advanced terminal operating system TOPS and also delivering a modern data center container solution (DCon) – Made in Germany.
