First release of technical standards for the port industry

TIC4.0 Release “Container Handling Equipment Activity and Power Source Concepts and Definitions” is now available.

After the publication of the TIC4.0 White Paper, with great pleasure, we, as part of TIC 4.0, are very proud of announcing our second release of technical standards for the sector.

This first compendium (TIC4.0 2021.1) explains the context for the application of the Definitions, Semantics, Dataset Roadmap and Data Model defined by TIC4.0 as the main standardization pillars for the port terminal industry. Moreover, this release presents the first 25 definitions which characterize the "Activity" and "Power Source" topics for Container Handling Equipment.

As a TOS supplier on a first view these are technical telemetry standards and seem to matter less than definitions of moves and workinstructions. However, when we look to the future of terminal operations and TOS this type of data is essential to move ahead with better decision making in the TOS and more automated processes in planning and execution. These stardards are a great step forward.

Norbert Klettner (Vice President TIC4.0): "This first release of TIC4.0 definitions marks an important point in moving our industry forward. Every release is driven by the demand of our members and thereby represents the needs to the industry. This time we summarized on the TIC4.0 grammar and semantic shortly and focused on the equipment telemetry data for "power source" and "activity". Together with the release everybody can find a full data model and the data set explained. Please download the definition from our website."

TIC 4.0 is an initiative to promote, define and adopt standards that will enable cargo handling industry to embrace the 4th industrial revolution. Read more about TIC 4.0 at: https://tic40.org.
