RBS EMEA Supports Key Progress by TIC4.0 in Digital Standardisation

At the recent TIC4.0 Autumn General Assembly in Dubai, the terminal industry took important steps forward in harmonising digital standards for ports and terminals worldwide. As a member of TIC4.0, RBS EMEA acknowledges these developments as critical for the future of terminal operations.

A major highlight was the announcement of the forthcoming BSI PAS 4000 – a new specification for digital cargo-handling processes, based on the TIC4.0 data ontology and due for publication in February 2026. This specification is expected to become a foundational reference across the sector.

The Assembly also addressed the formation of the new ISO TC8/SC27 sub-committee on Ports and Terminals standardisation. As a liaison member of the SC TIC4.0 stressed the need to align the new standardisation work with existing industry specifications to ensure consistency and global interoperability.

In addition, the assembly looked into the strategic cooperation build up over the years with other key association such as FEPORT, PEMA, ICHCA and SMDG. Finally we welcomed our first four TIC4.0 Ambassadors with Que (DPW), Matthieu (M407), Alex (INFORM) and Marco (DSP).

These developments reinforce the importance of unified data models and open standards – elements that play a key role in modern terminal operating solutions like those offered by RBS EMEA. For readers interested in more details, the full TIC4.0 press release is available here:
