AGV (Automated Guided Vehicles)

It is a container trailer that is fully automated, requires absolute zero physical intervention, and is a software-controlled container trailer. It is one of the options used when fully automating a container terminal with suppliers such as Gottwald or Kalmar. Two of the early AGV driven container terminals can be found in Europe with the Container Terminal Alterwerder in Hamburg and the ECT Terminal in Rotterdam. Ofter it is argued that the traditional AGV is a passive device dependent on the lifting capabilities of the cranes or yard equipment. Due to this there is a sub-category called lift-AGV.
